Transfer machine

A Transfer machine is a chip removal machine tool, usually CNC controlled.

Transfer means that the piece is transferred from  a position to another for the necessary working operations that can be  drilling, threading, milling, chamfering, and also recessing.

A transfer machine can be linear ( where the stations are positioned  in line) or rotary where the stations are around  a circle.
BTB manufacture rotary transfer machines with horizontal or vertical axis.
The working cycle must be divided in to the working operations ( and consequently the stations) necessary for the machining of the piece .

Horizontal axis machine : 6-8-10 stations
Vertical axis machine up to 12 – 16 stations
Max. number of units : 45

Depending on the piece to be machined the units must be equipment with the relevant toolings.
On each station 3 sides of the piece can be machined. Once finished the operation on the first station, the table turns in to the second  station for the following operations and so on.
Once the turning of the table is completed, the pieces is  machined.
Depending on the piece to be manufactured and the number of operations necessary to  finish it, it could be necessary  a second working cycle on the same machine using new toolings.

High productivity is obtained from the use of several units ( up to 45 on a machine) and the possibility to machine more than one piece at the same time.

The type of units, their disposal on the  transfer machine and the kind of motors are studied  in accordance with  the piece to be manufactured and its material.

( ex: for brass pieces  ISO30 taper for machining pieces up to 1" ½    -    ISO40 taper for machining pieces up to 2" ½    -  ISO50 taper for machining pieces bigger than 2" ½)
